Rough Cut

This is our first rough cut of our music video. In the next few weeks we will re shoot some sections that need to be done, add effects and colour grading and transitions. We will also make the lip synching more precise and to make the narrative story more clear.

Experimenting With Different Texts For Website

For the website we decided that we wanted a trademark font that is used on all of the merchandise, tickets, website, and albums of Holly Hayes, we decided to experiment with them until we found the one that we felt suited the girly "hippie" image that we gave to our artist.

These are some of the texts that we originally looked at:

Back Up Site Recce

We also decided to have a back up location as well as actors so if anything was to go wrong and we was not able to use the location our video would not be affected and time would not be wasted as we have already planned ahead and found back up locations which are suitable for our music video.
These are the backup locations that we have chosen-

Location Recce

We decided to visit the locations that we will be shooting at to see if they were suitable for our music video. We did this to gain more ideas of using the space around us and we did not want to just turn up on the day seeing the locations for the first time.

The Girls Room-

Bathroom-

Woodlands and field-

Kitchen and hallway-

Overall we found all of the locations very good and suitable for our video. Although two of the locations had a higher risk because of weather we wanted a percentage of ours to be shot outside so will go with the risk and just check the weather. These will be our 4 final locations for our music video along with the already chosen location of Hampton Court.

Location Reece Of Hampton Court

I decided to visit one of our filming locations so i could provide a visualisation of some of the possible shot locations we'd be using in the near future. Most of these shot locations can be linked with conceptual meanings, such as the lake being a mirror to reflect her conflicting past, the waterfall symbolising how even though there has been problems previously in her childhood life just keeps flowing and castle which represents her home that feels so huge and empty because her dad left.

Costume

Actor 1- Holly

Because we are trying to appeal to an indie audience we want the costumes to be relatable so Holly then becomes an aspiration to them. She will be wearing a cute floral vintage dress that is considered to be stylish to this particular social group. Because it will be cold around the time when we intend to film there will have to be available coats outside of filming.

Actor 2- Holly's father

The dads costume has to be more mature because if we cannot secure and older male that can pass as a dad we will have to dress and younger actor up to appear older.

Actor 3- Holly's Mother

Even though you will only see the mum for a brief few seconds we still have to consider how realistic she is going to look. I researched daily mum outfits and found that the costume had to be very simple. comfort over style.

Actor 4- Guardian Angel

When researching guardian angels i often found that many of the costumes were considered very promiscuous. However the look we're going for is pure and angelic, so the costume will be floor length with large wings.

Risk Assessment

Auditions

There are four acting roles that we needed to audition for for our music video, the main artist, the guardian angel, and the mum and dad. We also decided that we needed understudies too so that anything went wrong with our main actors we would have somebody to fill in easily. We decided to hold auditions with the possible actors acting out a scene of our music video so we were able to select the highest standard of people possible suitable to be in our music video.

The Role Of The Artist-
We had two people audition to be the main actress. One of the people that auditioned was the artist herself Holly Hayes,

Holly's Audition-

Tierney's Audition-

As Holly was actually the artist we felt that she had more of a connection to the song and therefor will be able to lip sync and perform it better. It also allows us to promote her as herself which is something that we wanted to Holly will be playing the main Role. Although Tierney was a very good actress we just felt that Holly has more emotion involved in the song as she wrote it herself therefor its her feelings. We gave Tierney the position as the understudy though and they both accepted their positions.

The Role Of The Mum And Dad-
We had two people audition to be the mum in our music video and two people to be the dad, all of similar ages who fit the age range of being an older girls mum or dad.

Janet's Audition-

Sharon's Audition-

Glenn's Audition-

Peter's Audition-

Overall we felt that Sharron and Peter were more comfortable in the role of the mum and dad as there acting was to a higher standard. We also wanted to stick with both the actor and actress being husband and wife as we thought that would work well with our story line. We decided that Janet and Glenn would be our understudies if something meant that Sharon or Peter could not perform. All accepted.

The Role Of The Guardian Angel-
The role of the guardian angel we wanted to be played preferably by a young teenage girl with long blonde hair who is a similar height to our artist. We auditioned 2 girls both who fit the image we was looking for.

Maddie Chivington's Audition-

Aimee Webb's Audition-

Overall we felt that Maddie was more confident and suited to the part as the guardian angel as she performed to a very high standard which would improve our music video. Aimee was still very good though and fitted the style and image we was looking for as well so we decided to use them as our understudy. All accepted the positions.

Production Schedule

Below is a production schedule which we decided to make to use our time as efficiently as possible and so that we go organised to each of the filming days to ensure that everything gets done which is needed too.

Weather Check

We decided to have a look on the weather for roughly the week we are aiming on shooting our music video for. The weather is very important as if it is raining we will not be able to film on them particular times and days as most of our locations are outside the wet would not be good for our performance but also the equipment. By looking ahead it allows us to see the best days and times to do it in the week roughly or if to reschedule to a week with better predicted weather.

As you can see the best days to do it on the week we were planning to are Sunday and Wednesday as the other days are forecasted to have rain.

Call Sheet

We created a call sheet so that everybody is able to communicate with each other when necessary such as the actors letting us know if they can not make a rehearsal or are running a bit late. It also allows us to have a stronger relationship with the people we are working with so they are able to call us for questions or advice, or the people they are working with very easily.
