CHAVS: Professor Green- Jungle
Genre characteristics- In this particular music video there is not a dance routine as such but shows the general behavior for that particular sub genre. There are different types of rough, planned but not meant to look staged movements and hand signs.Through the way certain hand actions and the movement of the men comes across it shows them to be quite rebellious and youthful as are all young.
This video is a conceptual video as it does not tell a clear story and many different meaning and ideas can be taken from it from the variety of shots and flashbacks used. This video gives a rebellious and dangerous mood away and what happens in the video is quite mysterious and can be interpreted by the viewers.
Lyrics and visuals- The lyrics connected with the visuals throughout this video and there is a very strong link between them. A strong message linking with the visuals is " when you're out here in this jungle" referring to the rough streets as the jungle. When this is said it shows some sort of rebellion.
Another link of lyrics and visuals is- "troubles what you find round here" showing a fight.
Music and visuals- The visuals work in time with the music by beat editing. The video is edited to the beat of the song. The video is quite fast paced with a lot of cuts, but the cuts increase nearer the chorus, the most important part of the song. As the beat drops for the first chorus the boy kicks the door open at the same time-
The demands of the record label include Professor Green the artist of the song being included in the video but also many close ups on him lip syncing his song. Professor Green appeals to both boys and girls but in the early days when this song was produce was aimed toward the lower class. His visuals show this by his basic clothes with the video being shot in a run down area so his target audience can relate with him.
There is a frequent notion of looking like the camera looking through a car window to see a gang outside on the streets or looking in a mirror to see a reflection.
In this video there is also particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body showing a particular female to come across as quite promiscuous and sexualised. It comes across to the viewer that she is perhaps a prostitute.

Although this video is meant to show the reality of the rough end places such as Hackney, especially at night it is exaggerated to get the audiences attention so they want to watch all this terribly bad stuff happening from cut to cut and will probably remember it.
Chavs- Above the law, loud, dangerous, roudy, poor.
